Ear Lobe stitching

nose jobs

Earlobe stitching is cosmetic surgery that addresses irregularities in your earlobe. There is minimal risk and high satisfaction. While minor complications can occur, such as bleeding and swelling, these usually go away within a week. Although infection rates are very low, scarring can heal well. It may take additional treatment to treat thicker scars. A small percentage will experience partial or complete recurrences but they are easily corrected.

After earlobe stitching, there is pain

The pain is not as severe after the anesthetic has worn off. To minimize discomfort, you can apply an ointment over the incision. You can also clean the sutures with hydrogen peroxide or soapy water. You shouldn't submerge the ear. You should limit your amount of lifting, bending, and straining following the procedure. Tylenol may also be prescribed to alleviate pain.

You may need your ear lobes repaired for many reasons. Damaged lobes can be due to injury, long-term earrings wear, or trauma. Either way, the procedure will restore your earlobe's appearance. The local anesthesia will be injected by your plastic surgeon. The doctor will then cut the tissue and sew the skin together. You will be able drive home once the procedure has been completed.

Recovery time

The amount of the procedure and the patient's recovery time will vary, but most people are able to return home within 24 hours. The postoperative pain is generally mild and can be managed with the use of an over-the counter pain medication. For the first few days, swelling and some sensitivity may be experienced. You can return to work and your usual activities after that.

The entire procedure can be done in one hour. Local anesthesia is used. Based on the patient's requirements, the surgeon will decide the procedure. To make the ear look more normal, excess skin is removed from around the earlobe. You can close large holes made by gauges with flaps, or sutures. To restore their normal shape and size, split earlobes will be stitched together. They will disappear within one week. Patients may then return to wearing their pierced ears.

Prices

While earlobe repair can be considered cosmetic surgery it is not usually covered under medical insurance. Even so, it may cost less than one might think, depending on the extent of damage and the type of procedure performed. Patients are responsible for paying the facility and anesthesia fees in addition to the surgeon's fees.

Ear lobe sutures can cost from $400 up to $1000, depending on the severity of the damage. This is usually an easy office procedure that takes around one hour. The surgeon will remove any damaged skin and then reposition soft tissue before stitching the earlobe back together with small sutures. The scar will appear as a thin pencil mark after the procedure.

Side effects

The majority of side effects following surgery to the earlobe will be minimal. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and involves the removal or excess skin. Sutures are used to close incisions. The procedure usually takes no more than one hour. You may feel some minor discomfort or soreness after the procedure. These symptoms can usually be managed with Tylenol, over-the–counter pain relievers, and are generally not serious. After the procedure, the stitches will be removed within one to two weeks. Follow all instructions regarding post-operative care.

Most patients can return to work or their homes within one day. Post-operative pain is usually minimal. Some swelling and bruising may occur in the area that has been treated, but it will pass quickly. Pain medication is often prescribed for this side effect, and most patients recover within two to seven days. Patients are advised to rest and not exercise for seven to ten to 10 days following surgery to reduce scarring and infection.
